We play at the Memorial Union on the University of Wisconsin campus (as seen at the 2019 Go Congress) outside of the Der Rathskeller beer hall on the long high-top tables. Metered street parking is available on the road traveling East from the building in addition to an inexpensive (card payment only) parking structure to the West of the building (Helen C. White Garage).
We have players of all ability levels and we welcome players of all ages (note that beer may be consumed during play). While our group is small, there are always people playing games - so long as the building is open. Some equipment is available to use, but bring boards and stones if you can. You can also purchase food, snacks, ice cream, coffee, or beer (maybe wine?) onsite (no alcohol carry-ins).
Additionally, there is an open mic at the same time. In the summer and weather permitting, open mic is held outside on the terrace overlooking one of the lakes (a great option for non-players who travel with players). Otherwise, it is held inside of Der Rathskeller. Generally, the performers are talented and overall the atmosphere is joyous and at times boisterous.
We mainly play friendly, unrated, handicap games with Japanese counting; however, serious and rated games are not discouraged. Come play with us!
