Registration is now open for the third Canadian Go Association summer Go camp. We will have Quan Sun from We-Go Education to lead the instructor team. This is a camp for Go players of all ages, children, youth, adults, seniors. But please note for children we are not providing child care, a responsible adult will need to be on site with the child.
LocationThe camp will take place at the beautiful Jouvence resort, inside Mount Orford national park. Highlights include:
La Cremaillère dining room with bistro, terrace and lake view
3 gourmet meals per day, 15 delicious buffet style meals in total
4 meeting rooms in the heart of nature
Access to outdoor spa and sauna
Canoes/kayaks, volleyball games, climbing, etc
InstructorsIt has been a journey to come up with our 2023 instructor team, but we are super pleased with the solution we've arrived at! Two Korean professionals will be joining us, our first overseas professional visitors since Pre-Covid, and a wonderful fit for our camp, Behind the scenes Yoonyoung Kim 8P was working hard to make this happen, thanks as always Yoonyoung! The Korean Baduk association will sponsor the travel costs for one of them, allowing us to keep the low Go fees we have managed in the past for another year.
Hye-Ryung Song 3p from Korea. She has visited Canada in the past, teaching at the 2019 Canadian open. In fact this might make her the last pre-Covid Canadian professional visitor, as well as our equal-first post Covid visitor. She earned her professional certification in 2014, and in 2020 was the 6th ranked female in Korea. She has been coaching a top university baduk team along with racking up competitive victories, so she has all the tools to be an ideal teacher.
Yeonwoo Cho 2P ("Go Pro Yeonwoo" as many of you may know her from youtube). In addition to the Go skills demonstrated with her fairly recent 2P promotion Yeonwoo has published a sequence of very popular English Go videos on her
youtube channel. If you want a taste of what to expect you can browse youtube while waiting for camp. She's going to be a great fit for camp, and we'll all learn a lot from her.
Update: Space running low & late registration fees coming soonEven before our instructors were known, Canadian Go players were enthusiastically booking camp spots. You can see on our
who's coming page that we have 38 Go players registered now, as well as additional family members. We secured a little extra capacity for 2023 (the reason we're not yet sold out, like we were at this date in 2022). But we only have perhaps 3-5 open rooms, some spots where existing rooms are willing to add people, and the ability to accomodate a few people offsite (Jouvence allows us a few people joining offsite, but strictly limits how many). I suspect these remaining spots will go quickly, now our top notch instructional team is known.
We will add a late registration fee for those who register
post May 15th, an extra 25$ over the basic Go fees.
If our instructor team doesn't convince you to sign up all the other reasons to join camp remain true
- Luxury meals included for all attendees. I've attended 20+ events like Go congress with included meals, and nothing has come close to what our camp offers
- Astoundingly low prices. Possible since the camp is a not-for-profit, inside a national park
- A vast array of included camp activities, in a stunning nature setting (as you would expect in a national park)
If you are on the fence about attending I suggest checking out a video on the previous camps (the 2023 structure will be very similar). Our
gallery page has links to videos for 2022, 2020, and 2019. Once you've done that, you can browse the website for details like costs & accommodation options. We can help with roommates for those attending on their own. Finally, check out the
registration page once you are ready to sign up.
